2nd Highland Creek Beavers Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Beaver Scout Programming in Canada
By Krystle Forsyth
The 2nd Highland Creek Beaver Scouts are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beaver program. In fact, all Scouts Canada Beaver groups across the country are celebrating this milestone, too.
The 2nd Highland Creek Beaver Scouts have been meeting at Charlottetown Junior Public School since 1974. CCRA has been sponsoring the Scouting Group since 1955 and we would like to thank the community association for its ongoing support.
For 50 years, the Beaver Scouts program has brought adventure, fun and special childhood memories to kids aged 5-7 across the country. From nature walks and campfire games to sleepaway camps, crafting Beaver Buggies and more, we’re celebrating the confidence and social skills that come with being a Beaver Scout.
Beaver program activities are planned with the Beaver Scouts ideas and input. Since September 2023 we have gone fishing at Rouge Beach, picked apples and pumpkins at a farm in Bowmanville, attended the Pumpkin Parade at Port Union CC, gone ice skating, and had a winter night hike at Camp Samac in Oshawa. Our upcoming meeting plans are a visit to Maple Syrup farm, sleepover at the Toronto Zoo and winter sleepover camp, and curling.
We will update our activities over the next few months and share our exciting adventures with you.
